Minimo 0.2 maemo port release and NEW REPOSITORY
After a while I got some time to pack up a new minimo maemo port version. It pretty stable, based on the just launched minimo 0.2 .$ cat debian/changelog
minimo (0.20) unstable; urgency=low
* Updated Sourcebase (Jun/08/07) - Minimo 0.2 !!!!!
* Fixed crash during closing, and further stability improvements.
* Some UI clean up - not working stuff like, download, open file, cache ...
NEW REPOSITORY - IMPORTANT !!!!!
I am hosting minimo in a new server now at http://www.maemo.org.br/minimo/ domain (note the .br suffix), which is more trustable than the previous host server.
INSTALLING MINIMO 0.2
- From minimo.install
- go to http://www.maemo.org.br/minimo/
- click on 'minimo.install'
- tap ok for all further dialogs :)
- from AppManager
- Add/Edit this entry into "new catalogue":
- web address: http://www.maemo.org.br/minimo/
- Distribution: bora
- Components: user
- "Refresh list"
- Go to "Browser Installable applications"
- pick "Minimo".

fpp: the Bora version works flawlessly o Nokia 770. You should add the Herring repo to satisfy a MiniMo dependency:

This release is just AWESOME.
I have no crashes at all, and now I can surf in fullscreen, without icons or adress bar.
Google Reader now works flawlessly fast, and it has a new option in the full-screen key, you're a genious! Continue the great work.
Thanks Cesar for the hint - somehow clicking on the minimo.install link didn't work on the 770. It called up the app manager but the repository wasn't added. I did it by hand, and also added Herring, and the update went fine.
Looks faster than ever, especially launch time.
I do have a problem though, I don't have the icon bar in full screen mode anymore, which makes it almost useless and impossible to navigate. I don't see an option to switch it back on. Is there something I can add to prefs.js ?

PS : Mike, the crash on https links with 'invalid' certificates has been there since the first versions. It is unfortunate, as I can't use my corporate webmail with minimo...
Two issues:
No icons (back, reload, etc.) in full screen mode.
I change skin to classic by editing prefs.js, next time I run minimo, it ignores change, and changes back to classic-vga.
Would it be possible to make this downloadable without using a repositary? For some reason I cannot access any repositaries from my 770. Doesn't matter which ones I enable or disable it never allows me to refresh packages...

Minimo still forces use of classic-vga skin, so in order to use the classic skin, it is necessary to edit /usr/lib/minimo/chrome/minimo-skin.manifest, renaming the skin name to classic-vga, and renaming the skin in minimo-skin-vga.manifest to something else.
If anyone is interested, I added wikipedia line to homebase (under the google search line).
To use, just download files

and copy them over the same files at /usr/lib/minimo/chrome
Much improved. We are trying to use this with Domino Web Access an have seen a few issues.
1. The jog dial enter button will not function as an enter key, it opens up the full size keyboard and then immediately closes it.
2. When we are in the mail frame we can not tap on a piece of email to open it (it does select but does not open)
Keep up the great work, it will be great to get our corp email on the n800 at last!
This is really very impressive, to hv a fully googlised N800 is great. I've got a few usability snags but probably more me than the app. Nokia should go mainline with this rather than Opera. Thanks for the efforts in porting, is there a wiki anywhere yet for Minimo on N800?

you can hide the locationbar by clicking on the "@" button on iconbar.
I am working/thinking in a way to hide/slide the icon bar ;)
I installed it on my 770... I had to add the herring repo and all sorts of crazy jazz to get this far, but now when I try to launch it, it just won't open. Help!
Dmainz, can you open terminal
$ cd /usr/lib/minimo
$ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=.
$ run-standalone.sh ./minimo
and tell me output you get ?

I should add... when I try to launch minimo, it says "Minimo Browser - loading" for a few seconds, then just seems to give up... almost like it doesn't have enough RAM to launch... but I'm really not running anything else.
odd which OS version are you using (2.2, 2007 hacker edition) ?

I'm just running 2006... version 3.2006.49-2 to be exact. I think that's gregale... haven't really gotten into the terminology yet though.
However, my RAM usage does seem to be a bit high though... with no programs open, it's at about 85%. When you try it on yours and if it works, see if you can tell me how your RAM is looking, I still suspect that could be the problem. Thanks.
Er, scratch that... I uninstalled and reinstalled it again, along with a couple other programs, and now it seems to be working fine...

Has anyone else noticed a single pixel wide line running down the left side of the screen in fullscreen mode? Antonio, you might want to check that out on a page with a black background. Accepting donations?

New to this, and I am trying to install minimo so i can see google calendar. But my 770 gives me an error saying:
"Unable to install, some packages required for the installation are missing"

Thanks, works well on my 770 with the latest version of OS 2006. Installation was easy, simply add the herring repository first.
This is simply fantastic! The installation was pretty easy (once I found this blog entry), and the browser works wonders (especially the text-size option.)
My only real concern Is the inability to copy text off the pages. Even the entry fields have the copy/paste menu items grayed out. If copy/paste were possible, I can't see any reason to go back to that dinky old opera (except for the rare occasions one would need to have stuff downloaded)

I'm still having trouble -- it says it's installed correctly but then just tries to open for a while and stops.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing also. Always crashed and closed on startup.
I found that the Application Manager was leaving files behind in the Minimo directory. I deleted the minimo directory via Osso Xterm and then did a fresh install and all works fine now.
Thank you so much for your efforts. I've just received my 770 today and know nothing about linux, but managed to install your browser and access my google apps.
I'm amazed at this little device - its so tiny, and great for web browsing !!

Thanks again for the application. I was wondering if there is any way to enable the cache on Minimo. The 'Do not use' setting is set and does nt allow another option. I've noticed that the browser will crash and reboot the system on some heavy sites. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
You might be able to alter cache settings by entering ABOUT:CONFIG in the address bar.
Does anyone know how I can permanently enable PAN SCROLLING and hide that annoying message "you are now using pan scrolling"?
i i have managed to get minimo to
refuse to respond to the onscreen
buttons. cant track down the reason tho.
also, it does not seem to like the fullscreen keyboard for som reason. i have seen it go into a loop, opening said keyboard whenever i try to minimize it (the keyboard).
still it seems to handle javascript much better then the internal opera in my 770 :)
now if one could make it the default browser and integrate it into the ui...he ui...have managed to get minimo to refuse to respond to the onscreen buttons. cant track down the r
How do I install this on my nokia 770 I have tried going to the website on my nokia downloading it but thwn i install nothing happen and ive tried adding it as new cat but it wont work :(
does anyone know how to clear the history list and the cache? other than that it works perfectly on my 770.

Hi there, I have tried installing the prgramme on my 770 with the stock OS by adding the herring repo along with the minimo one.
It downloads the file, runs the installer but says "installation failed."
Minimo appears in my extras programme list but when I hit on it, it says loading for a few seconds and then nothing happens.
Any ideas?
cannot get it onto my n800 os2008 diablo-any iodeas
