Minimo maemo port 0.16.9-1 available.

After some time, I got a new release. Follows changelog:

$ more debian/changelog
minimo (0.16.9-1) unstable; urgency=low
  • updated sourcebase (dated from 26/Jan/07).
  • Virtual Keyboard reimplementation
  • Fixed broken proxy setup
  • implemented HW key support (ongoing)
  • Removed "Open file" menuitem
  • Fixed minimo.postrm script
  • updated minimo sourcebase dependencies
  • created bora repository
  • disable caret browsing in webpages (pressing F7).
Some crash fixes mainly related to virtual keyboard interaction.

I have created also a BORA repository.
  • from AppManager
    • Add this entry into "new catalogue":
      • web address: http://home.ufam.edu.br/~agan/minimo/
      • Distribution: bora
      • Components: user
    • "Refresh list"
    • Go to "Browser Installable applications"
      • pick "Minimo".

Next steps before BOSSA are update sourcebase, get some spatial navigation changes checked in.

Enjoy your browsing ;)

Mistral repository doesn't offer an update, does it?

jsmanrique,

actually, you can setup a BORA repository even running mistral. It is going to install the newest version anyway ... sorry about that ... :)

HI,
I had older version of Minimo installed on 770, 2006.49-2 version.

I un-installed this.

I changed the repository to Bora.

I tried to install via application manager and got unable to install,
Packages missing
x11-common

Keep up the great work!

Peter

Thanks for your efforts Antonio.

I am missing the x11-common dependency too and i didn't have time to search for it yet...

anonymous , are you both running on 770 ? sirocco ? mistral ?

Hi Antonio,

I had the same problem with a recently flashed 3.2006 that did not have a previous version of minimo installed.

If I tried to install the latest version from bora I had the same dependency error (x11-common).

I installed the previous version from the mistral repo, then changed the repo to bora and upgraded.

The first time it failed right at the end ("unable to upgrade"), I tried again and the second time seemed to work. At least minimo runs...

The new version is a great improvement. It is good to have the hardware keys working !

Unfortunately on my 770 this version is very instable, especially with Google (mail, calendar) that worked well before. Now they're hardly usable anymore, I seldom can get past the login or the first screen...

Maybe a javascript problem, or something that didn't get upgraded right on 0S2006 ?...

Thanks for continuing to improve minimo !

Hi Antonio !
This time i'm answering through Minimo :D
I'm the anonymous hitting the x11-common issue.

I solved the x11-common dep on my 770 (gregale image 49-2) by adding the herring repo from repository.maemo.org.
After that. minimo installed just fine (from cmd line to check everything was going fine).

THANKS a million for providing a Gecko base standard browser to maemo people :)

Great work! Would you please also put your sources online, or just the patches and the references to get the main sources (which mozilla branch, what CVS date?).

OK, now I've got it installed. Nice!

A minor-I-hope wishlist suggestion: it'd be nice if Minimo could open a Internet connection automagically, the way other Maemo apps do.

Hi,

Very good, handles various Google apps much better than Opera.

I don't have the hardware keys working (at least not back and menu) - any ideas?

Thanks - Paddy

Hi Antonio,
Thanks for making this port available. I was really needing something that would work with Google Docs and Spreadsheets, which this does.

I did find a bug, which you can probably replicate. If you go to your document list in Google Docs, select a document, then choose "Save as RTF" (or "Save as PDF"), Minimo will crash. I'm assuming this has something to do with a download pop-up, as the normal behavior is for a file to be made available for download to your client. I've been using this on my PC workstation as a way of producing RTF or PDF files that can be downloaded and read on my N800.

Thanks again for a great port.

Hello,
I am interested in this Minimo Maemo (can someone please give a straight answer if there is a place on this net that this can be founds?)

I am also interested in how it would be possible to get a program ,update or software program where i can hit spots of no reception but be able to work offline.

I am looking to use these in my business and would like help on a drag and drag website friendly or even using the linux on this n800 - a custom program - where it would be like www.panic.com

Please comment.

Hi! I tried to install this on 770 (latest official firmware - 2006.49-2) and failed:

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of xlibs:
xlibs depends on libxpm4; however:
Package libxpm4 is not installed.
xlibs depends on libxrandr4; however:
Package libxrandr4 is not installed.
dpkg: error processing xlibs (--install):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
xlibs

Where can I find missed deb's? Unfortunately, I do not have Internet connection within tablet at the moment and need to download files & place it on card instead.

Thanks, that works once you add the herring repository as follows:

repository: http://repository.maemo.org/
distribution: herring
components: main

Great to have some sort of AJAX support on the move :3, thanks again.
